At The Living Water School, this vision has grown into what we call Koinonia Classical Education. Koinonia Classical Education is our application of Koinonia Education to the Classical Liberal Arts tradition. Rooted in the New Testament vision of Christian community, it draws upon the wisdom of the Classical Liberal Arts, Charlotte Mason’s vision of the child, and the freedom of self-directed learning to cultivate wise, joyful, and lifelong learners.

Koinonia is the New Testament vision of Christian community—a shared life in Christ where every person is recognized as bearing the image of God, every voice is valued, every gift is cultivated, and wisdom is pursued together in love. We believe education should reflect this vision. Learning is strongest within a community where students are known, encouraged, challenged, and invited to contribute. Every child has something meaningful to offer, and every relationship becomes part of the educational journey.

The Classical Liberal Arts tradition provides the academic foundation of our philosophy. Through great literature, history, philosophy, mathematics, science, languages, and Socratic dialogue, students participate in humanity’s ongoing pursuit of truth, goodness, and beauty.
Charlotte Mason
Charlotte Mason reminds us that children are born persons. Her emphasis on living books, narration, nature study, wonder, and meaningful ideas shapes the way we cultivate curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.
Self-Directed Learning (The Sudbury Model)
Inspired by the Sudbury Model, we believe students flourish when they are entrusted with meaningful responsibility for their learning. By cultivating independence, creativity, initiative, and ownership, students learn to become thoughtful, self-motivated lifelong learners.
