Founders

Damon and Anika Prather founded the Living Water School in 2015. The vision came to Anika as she prayed about finding the right school for their first born son who was entering kindergarten that September. Because he was such a unique and creative learner, they were challenged to find the right place. God led Anika to discover the Sudbury model which gave her the inspiration for creating a free learning environment for her son. She was already committed to Classical education, after having taught in classical schools for over 10 years. Anika decided to create a school where both philosophies could thrive. In doing this, a balanced school program where students really come to love learning without the pressures of traditional schooling and freedom to follow their personal interests has come into fruition. Anika has a BA (Howard University-where she also teaches part time), 3 masters (NYU, St. John’s College and Howard University) and a PhD (University of Maryland, College Park) in education, music, theatre and liberal arts. Damon teaches upper level science and manages the finances and Spiritual vision of the school. He has a BA in Chemical Engineering (Michigan State) and 2 masters (MBA Wisconsin-Madison and Computer Engineering-Johns Hopkins). They have 3 children and reside in Maryland.
